shadows-of-warOn Friday 7th November at 8pm, Dean Henry Hull and the community of Down Cathedral host Shadows of War.

Grosvenor will perform a sequence of works by composers including Elgar, Purcell, Rutter, Michael McGlynn and Edward Craig, the choir’s Director of Music. They will will be joined by Voces Praestantes, Boys’ Voices of Carrickfergus Grammar School, who will a sing selection of popular songs of the time, telling the story of the young men going to war.

Historian and author Philip Orr will explore the impact of the war to County Down through local newspaper reports dating from 1914 to 1918.

The recital, which is free of charge and for the whole community, starts at 8pm. Light refreshments will be provided.
